The 4G ford alternator family became common in 1997 and occurs thru 2006, although not as common as in the beginning. It is easily recognizable by the black metal cover on the back of the alternator.  “Gray” refers to the color of the voltage regulator. This is the piece where the 3 pin connector is plugged in. Some “black” regulators will be updated with gray.  By the time an original equipment 4G alt. fails, it is a 99% chance that the brushes have burnt through the slip ring on the rotor. This is why we need a new rotor to do a rebuild.

Kits include: New rotor, 2 new bearings, new voltage regulator.

We have many kits in stock and ready to ship! Shortly after we see your order, we send you a link to Youtube so you can begin watching your video while your kit is being shipped to you.

Our videos make the job easy, every step of the way. You can even call us, and a starter alternator rebuilder will call you back. But  (worst case scenario) if you just can’t get it, you can even ship the unit to us, and we will finish the job for you, for a nominal fee not including parts.

We also boast a “no competition” presence on the web for our other educational siteswww.alternatorrebuildkits.com and www.starterrebuildkits.com. We know of no other site that provides this much actual educational material from the people who actually “do” the work, not just sit around and write articles.

Some specifications are listed above. If you are not sure if this is the correct kit for you, or if you have any questions, please  visit our kit application website at www.qui-quote.com toI.D. the proper rebuild kit for your specific  vehicle.  You could also visit rebuilderinabox.com
